Rural Anger Erupts in UP Village as 5G Tower Worker Is Held Hostage
Anger erupted in Fatehpur’s Hardauli village over the lack of 5G connectivity as villagers held a tower worker hostage. A viral video shows the incident, while police have begun an investigation.
According to the villagers, repeated complaints over the network problem failed to bring any resolution, increasing frustration among residents. On Thursday, they stopped the tower employee and demanded that an officer from the concerned company or department reach the village.
The villagers said the employee would not be released until the responsible officer arrived at the spot and assured them that the network problem would be resolved. The incident led to a tense situation in the village for a considerable period.
A video of the incident has also surfaced and is rapidly circulating on social media. In the video, some villagers can be seen tying the employee near the mobile tower, while several others question him about why 5G network connectivity has not reached the village despite the passage of so much time. People present at the spot were also seen recording the incident on their mobile phones.
After receiving information about the matter, the local police became active. Police have taken cognisance of the viral video and started an investigation. Officials said the entire matter is being examined and further action will be taken on the basis of the investigation.
The incident has since become a subject of discussion in the area, with the dispute highlighting the growing anger among villagers over the unresolved 5G network issue.
